Well where do you start, maybe the weather, what a great evening for a cycle ride, and I for one had a great cycle ride.
Not a clue how many where there they seemed to go on forever I guess well over a thousand, good corking several small sound systems but missing the best one that seems to act as a focus point one or two skirmishes along the way great sight seeing tour with a couple of great spots to regroup which the front tried to do on several occasions, good use of mobile phones and it was good to meet back up with splinter groups, lots of "bike Highs" and cheering.
confrontations by the bucket load all that I saw handled very well top marks to the young lady and the motor cyclists (anybody want to buy a knackered back tyre) sorry for all of you who missed it a group of 4 bikers on very expensive machines thought they could force their way through by revving at the mass one plonker was stopped and held up far longer than would have been then when finally let through he sat spinning the rear wheel burning his tyre away, I wonder what the other three riders thought as they just sat there in good spirits talking to the mass, then as we cut through the parade the plonker had parked up I would like to think he did the sensible thing and stopped to calm down and check his bike before riding off but some how I doubt it anyway they were at the back of the mass again just with less rubber this time doh!
Highlight for me was meeting up with the split sections the feeling of the mass having a purpose and the gwizz being escorted and clapped through Leicester Square
Ok I'll give the police a quick mention as I know they like to read this;
On the whole handled very well but as always one or two Knobheads. When will they realise if we are left alone there is not going to be any trouble or damage and we move on after a very short space of time, simple.
The t*at in the car with lights flashing and siren going that forced his way through the mass (that people helped clear the route for him) got to the front blocked the road then told everybody to move on ! Ya right , what will happen next time the police try to get through in a real emergency maybe today when he is sitting on one of his 20 tea stops he ought to think on that along with the femail Knob head that thought it's ok to speed down the walkway in the park on a sunny evening with children everywhere.
Heres an idea, it wasn't that long ago there were forty or so police that came along (and I know some of you still do!!! sorry if your SECRETS out) why not have somebody on the radio to explain to the others that think we must be stopped at all costs what we are about or will that take another fifteen years. Anyway enough of my cynical views I had a good night as I'm sure old hands and new comers alike did thank you.
Steve.

Thought everyone went down Oxford Street but apparently not. I certainly did, though that would not have been my choice - I was just following everyone else. Apparently the Mass did get split up and took multiple routes, but it all reconverged by the time it reached Trafalgar Square. There were still probably over 400 people as we headed East along The Strand but as we got further from the centre people started peeling off and by the time I got to Smithfield around 10 there were about 100 people left, with two soundsystems (I think). Some people danced and others played frisby while a cute little dog watched from the safety of its owner's pannier. The crowd then dispersed fairly rapidly and when I left there were no more than about a dozen people lingering on.
I had gone along without a soundsystem this time, but with someone who had never been on the Mass before, and we both really enjoyed it.
Ian.
